My name is Josh Bast and this is my personal website to showcase some of my photography. I'm an amature photographer but have been into it pretty seriously since 2001.
I was Born in the U.S. in 1976, but spent most of my childhood years living in the Philippines as a son of a missionary family. I have a B.S. in Biology from the College of the Ozarks and an M.S. in Entomology from Clemson University.
My full time job is as a Medical Entomologist for the Department of Defense. My job has taken me all over the world where I have been fortunate enough to experience other cultures and try to capture them on “film”.
I shoot mostly with my Canon 350D, but my real hardware is in the glass. I have a Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, Canon USM 70-300mm f/4 telephoto, and a Canon L-series 17-40mm f/4 wide angle lens. I also have a Canon Speedlight 580EX flash and a Gitzo G1325 carbon fiber tripod with Acra-Swiss ballhead. I have a Canon G9 point-and-shoot for those times when I have to pack light and need something small.
Since I shoot all my photos in raw format, digital postprocessing is a must. I process most of my images on my 17in widescreen MacBook Pro and maintain all my collections on my Dell XPS using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop CS2. This site was primarily built using Matthew Campagnas' web photo gallery templates for Lightroom's web module.
